bAck TO sChOoL...

Eden officially started first grade today! She was up last night making her lunch (complete with a shredded cheese and carrot sandwich), packing her backpack (carefully selected and coordinated… “But mom, I really think the light pink notebook matches my binder better than the hot pink.”), and picking out her accessories (sparkly bracelets and clips for her hair). She has had her outfit picked out for two weeks, and even though it was 102 degrees today I couldn’t sway her from wearing her plaid blazer!

While she was getting ready this morning the doorbell rang. Just like last year she got a delivery from the Magic School Bus wishing her a great year in first grade.

Inside were a Blow Pop that said “Be kind to everyone and you’ll be Farney’s Pop Star,” Lip balm that said “For when you meet a chap,” and Nerds that said “Being smart doesn’t mean you’re a Nerd!” But my personal favorite was a package of tissues with a note that said “These are for when you miss your mom!”

She couldn’t figure out how her package got there, but she said someone knew her and must love her! Carter, on the other hand, got a sticker after he screamed through 4 immunizations at the pediatrician and had to watch his sister get on the bus without him. Poor kid got the shaft!

Today was Becky’s birthday and we got to celebrate with her for lunch! Hopefully it wasn’t the PeiWei that we ate that made her break out in hives from head to toe. I am so grateful for her friendship! She is one of those friends who no matter what I have going on after being with her I always feel better. The first time I hung out with Becky, I knew we would be friends forever because she made me laugh uncontrollably. Love you Beck! Thanks for putting up with me and my roadtrips! (The really funny part was that all that dessert was for 6 of us!)
